Getting started
What happens if my dog has never been to daycare before?
Many of our dogs are first-timers. That's why every new dog starts with a complimentary meet & greet and trial day. We take introductions slowly and make sure your dog feels safe, comfortable, and confident before joining the group.
What should I bring on my dog's first day?
Just bring your dog and any food, medication, or special instructions they may need. We'll take care of the rest.
Do you charge extra on holidays?
Yes — a +$15 holiday surcharge applies to both daycare and boarding on peak dates. 2026 upcoming dates: Independence Day (July 1–7), Labor Day Weekend (Sept 4–7), Halloween (Oct 30–Nov 1), Thanksgiving Week (Nov 24–30), and Winter Holidays (Dec 15–Jan 7). Thanksgiving and Winter Holiday boarding spots fill up fast — we recommend booking at least 2–3 weeks ahead.
How far in advance should I book?
As early as possible, especially for boarding, holidays, and busy weekends — spots are limited.
Can my dog stay overnight if they've never attended daycare before?
No. All new boarding dogs must first complete a meet & greet and trial daycare day before their first overnight stay.
A day at Duke's
What are your daycare hours?
Monday–Friday: 7:00 AM–6:00 PM · Saturday: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Sunday is closed for daycare — boarding pickup and drop-off by appointment only for existing boarding clients.
Do dogs stay inside or outside?
Both. Dogs have access to indoor and outdoor areas throughout the day. We rotate based on weather, energy levels, and individual needs.
Can I bring my dog's food?
Absolutely. We encourage owners to bring their dog's regular food, treats, medications, and any special instructions to keep their routine consistent.
Do you administer medications?
Yes. We can administer most medications as long as instructions are provided ahead of time.
Do you send photos and updates?
Yes. We regularly send photos and videos by text so you can see how your pup is doing throughout their stay.
What happens if I'm late picking up my dog?
Boarding includes up to 24 hours. Late pickup fees may apply beyond the scheduled window. Pickup after 6:00 PM on daycare days is treated as an overnight boarding stay.
Dogs & compatibility
Do you accept all dogs?
Not every dog is the right fit for every environment. We carefully evaluate each dog during the meet & greet and trial day to ensure they're comfortable, social, and safe around other dogs.
Does my dog have to be friendly with other dogs?
Yes. Since Duke's is a social, group-play environment, all dogs must be comfortable around other dogs and able to safely participate in a pack setting.
What if my dog is reactive, anxious, or nervous?
Every dog is different. We evaluate temperament on a case-by-case basis during the meet & greet. Some nervous dogs thrive in our small-group environment, while others may be better suited for one-on-one care.
What if my dog has separation anxiety?
Many dogs initially experience separation anxiety. Our small-group, home-style environment often helps them settle in quickly, but every dog is evaluated individually.
Do you separate dogs by size?
Not necessarily. We focus more on temperament, play style, energy level, and compatibility than size alone. Safety is always our top priority.
What happens if my dog doesn't get along with another dog?
Dogs are closely supervised throughout the day. If we notice any incompatibility, we immediately redirect, separate, or adjust the group to keep everyone safe and comfortable.
Do you accept intact (unneutered) dogs?
Yes. We welcome intact dogs and puppies as long as they have appropriate social skills and are comfortable around both neutered and unneutered dogs.
Will my dog be around puppies?
Possibly. We have dogs of different ages, including puppies. All dogs must be comfortable interacting with dogs of various ages, sizes, and energy levels.
Are there any breeds you don't accept?
We do not discriminate based on breed. Acceptance is based on temperament, behavior, social skills, and overall compatibility with our daycare environment.
